A legitimate argument can be made that the Atlanta native "Tauheed Epps" is one of the few artists in Hip-Hop today that has lived multiple lives before he finally became the Hip-Hop superstar known as, "2 Chainz". Before his musical origins, Epps was a Honor Roll student in High School and was even a Division 1 Basketball player for Alabama State during their 1996-1997 season. This was all before he would finally hang up his hoop dreams for his rap dreams.
In 1997, Epps would form the Hip-Hop duo, "Playaz Circle" with his friend, "Dolla Boy" and Epps would go by the moniker, "Tity Boi". The groups debut independent album, "United We Stand, United We Fall" would lead to the group meeting the now Hip-Hop superstar but former rising MC, "Ludacris". After Ludacris quickly began the highest selling artist, Epps and his group-mate would begin to collaborate with Ludacris on multiple songs and would eventually land a record deal on Ludacris' newly formed label, "Disturbing Tha Peace".
Their debut album, "Supply & Demand" would release on October 30th, 2007 bolstered by the hit single, "Duffle Bag Boy" and would follow up with their second album under Disturbing Tha Peace with the project, "Flight 360: The Takeoff". This project featured the successful single, "Big Dawg" featuring the New Orleans native MC, "Lil Wayne". Two years later in 2011, Epps would go independent to further advance his musical career and would change his moniker to, "2 Chainz" and would release his first independent Billboard Top R&B/Rap Chart topping mixtape, "T.R.U. REALigion". This allowed 2 Chainz to land guest verses on multiple hit songs with brand name artists such as Kanye West's, "Mercy" and Nicki Minaj's, "Beez In The Trap". These star studded placement would only propel 2 Chainz's career into the stratosphere as he would go on to release a hit debut album, "Based On A T.R.U. Story" that bolstered the hit single, "No Lie" featuring the Hip-Hop star Drake. This debut album also featured another career-defining hit single in, "I'm Different".
Since the release of his debut album in 2012, 2 Chainz would go to release two more albums in, "B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time" and the Lil Wayne collaborative project "ColleGrove". 2 Chainz has also headlined multiple tours and received four Grammy Award Nominations. 2 Chainz is most recently planning to release another solo album, "Before Chainz" before the end of this year!
