Noah "40" Shebib

The Canadian superstar artist, Drakestates in this documentary that aired on the eve of his debut album release, "Thank Me Later"  that one of his biggest fears in his life was to ever possibly lose one of his close friends and talented producer, "Noah Shebib". Shebib is better known to most as "40 Days & 40 Nights" or "40" for short because of his astounding work ethic of being able to work all day and night during his studio sessions. In this smokebox interview, 40 reveals that DJ Premier is the person who influenced him to start producing music passionately in the late 1990's when he was only known for his engineering work. Noah in his childhood years was an actor and even had a featured role in the Goosebump Television Series and a role in the movie, "The Virgin Suicide". 40 first started his production work with local artists such as Empire in 2002 from his hometown Toronto, Canada and would eventually catch the ear of an aspiring MC, "Drake" about three years later after his first production placement. 40 states in this CNN featured story that after working with Drake for about 3 days they both decided they would take over the world together with their combined musical talents. Unfortunately, tragedy would strike and Noah would be diagnosed with the Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 22 and would spend two months not being able to walk. Noah continued to stay strong and stay passionate about making the best possible music to take Drake's and his musical career to another stratosphere. 40's persistence and determination would pay off when his production would play a huge part of making Drake's third mixtape, "So Far Gone" a monumental success as it would be downloaded over 2 million times in the first day of its release online. The mixtape would lead to Drake touring all over the world and eventually releasing the project as an official EP that would sell over 500,000 units upon its release. This would cement 40 as a bonafide professional with his own unique lo-fi and "underwater" sound that allows the artist to shine over his production while still allowing the song to be cohesive.

Not only has 40 has grown to be one of the most successful producers in the game by playing a huge role in producing the multi-platinum singles and albums for Drake but he has also produced the track, "I'm Single" for Lil Wayne for his highly praised "No Ceilings" mixtape. 40 also produced for artists like "Trey Songs" (Ready), "Alicia Keyes" (Unthinkable), "Sade" (The Moon and The Sky Remix), "Nas" (Bye Baby) and even Beyonce (Mine) as well.

40's signature atmospheric and brooding crisp Hip-Hop sound has helped to revitalize Hip-Hop and also take OVO's sound to another stratosphere while simultaneously catching the ears and hearts of millions of people across the country and world respectively.
