Beyonce Giselle Knowles-Carter is undoubtedly one of the most well known and talented musical icons of the twenty-first century as her musical and overall creative talents have changed pop culture and music forever. With her unparalled success and cult-like following, she has developed for her brand at the young age of thirty-four. In her own documentary, Beyonce states that she has always been a performer since she could remember as a child and even won her first talent show at the age of 7. Seeing the talent and potential in his daughter, Matthew Knowles (Beyonce's father), quit his six figure job to manage the one of the music's best selling groups of all time in, "Destiny's Child" selling over sixty million albums while the group was still intact. Destiny's Child would release four successful albums in, "Destiny's Child" (1998), "The Writings On The Wall" (1999), "Survivor" (2001) and "Destiny Fulfilled" (2004) before the group would ultimately dissolve due to internal conflicts. One of Beyonce's first solo recordings is the track, "'03 Bonnie & Clyde" from 2002 in which many began to theorize that Jay-Z and Beyonce began dating. Beyonce would ultimately utilize this opportunity to jumpstart her solo career by releasing her solo debut album called, "Dangerously In Love" in 2003 that would firmly cement her as a superstar artist due to the album earning her first five Grammy Awards along with two number one singles in, "Baby Boy" and "Crazy In Love".
Beyonce's sophomore album, "B'Day" would release on September 5th, 2006 to correspond with her birthday and would sell over 500,000 albums in its first week of release whilst simultaneously granting Beyonce her second consecutive number one album. The album bolstered the two top Billboard 100 songs in, "Deja Vu" and "Irreplaceable". To date, B'Day has sold over eight million copies worldwide. On the eve of her third album, "I Am Sasha Fierece" releasing, she announced her marriage with the Brooklyn bred legendary MC, "Jay-Z" during the album's listening party (2008). Beyonce quotes that she developed the alter-ego, "Sasha Fierce" to be the sassy and overly glamorous artist that aims to give the best performance possible when she is on stage. The album would unsurprisingly sell over 480,000 units in the first week of its release which would make it Beyonce's third consecutive number one album. The album bolstered the smash single and anthem in, "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" which pushed Beyonce to her headlining her own world tour that grossed over $110 million in 2009.
Since her first album release, Beyonce's career and life seemed to be in hyperdrive. As she was achieving the highest levels of success, she was also slightly losing her sanity whilst missing out on living her life outside of music and performing. In this official documentary for Beyonce, Beyonce reveals that she decided to take a hiatus from music in early 2010 to take her mothers advice to, "live her life and to let her be inspired by things again" and Beyonce would do just that by traveling the world. The break from music proved to be invaluable for Beyonce as she realized that she wanted more of a familial relationship with her father as opposed to a business relationship and also she wanted to achieve her goal of independence by being able to manage her own career. Thus, she announced in June of 2011, that she decided to break ties with her father as her manager as she prepared to release her fourth studio album, "4". "4" released on June 28th, 2011 and would be Beyonce's fourth consecutive number one album while selling over 300,000 units in the first week. The album featured the two successful singles in, "Run The World" & "Best Thing I Never Had". In 2013, just a year after Beyonce had her first child, "Blue Ivy Carter" with Jay-Z (2012), she would unexpectedly release her fifth self-titled studio album, "Beyonce" without any prior promotion. This strategy would prove to be very successful for Beyonce as the album would rise atop the Billboards Top 100 charts for the fifth consecutive time in her career as she made history for being the first woman to do so. The album would sell over 1 million digital copies in its first week of being released through the buzz created by the smash hit featuring Jay-Z called, "Drunk In Love".
Just four months after Beyonce released her new single, "Formation" and announced her, "Formation World Tour" she released both her short film and album, "Lemonade". Since it's release, it has set the internet on fire and quickly become viral while simultaneously being a huge success for Beyonce as all 12 songs on the album debuted on the Billboards Top 100 charts. The album has plenty of theories of it's content and the reasoning behind but regardless of any of the perceived controversy, it is still a great album by Queen Bee herself. Beyonce has amassed many achievements for her glorious career with over 20 Grammy Awards, over 100 million albums sold and a net worth of almost $500 million.
