Childish Gambino

Donald Glover also known as Childish Gambino (thanks to to the Wu-Tang Name Generator) was not always a contributor was Hip-Hop. In fact, he first made his professional mark as a sitcom writer for the NBC Comedy Series known as, "30 Rock" following his graduation from New York University at the age of twenty-three. Glover later landed a role as the character, "Troy Barnes" on the NBC show, "Community".

Once Donald began focusing more on music, he dropped impressive musical projects such as, "R O Y A L T Y", "Camp" and "Because The Internet"  (that bolstered the song, "3005" that landed Childish a Grammy Nomination). Following these projects, the Hip-Hop world would truly take Gambino even more seriously especially after his classic freestyle on Sway In The Morning to the Pound Cake instrumental. The freestyle illuminated his unique and slick flow that was cleverly conversational and the well-improvised performance would remove any doubts from those who thought Gambino's music was merely a gimmick.

Gambino has always showed his versatility as a artist with tapes such as, "Culdesac" that showcase his soulful singing abilities. After selling over 500,000 copies of his second album Because The Internet, Gambino continued to expand his sound with the release of the project, "STN MTN".

All the while, Glover never forgot his acting abilities as the acclaimed comedic drama television gem known as, "Atlanta" would be Gambino's next big project on FX. Building off that buzz. would perfectly give him the time to create his arguably best musical project to date in, "Awaken My Love". The project would forgo his usual rap style and instead serve as the byproduct of Gambino's growth as an artist and person respectively. The album showcases his evolved artistry and vocal ability on tracks such as, "Boogieman", "Baby Boy" and "Me And Your Mamma"The album's production is beyond majestic and is nostalgic for listeners who dig The Parliament, Sly and the Family Stone, Rick James and even Prince. Overall the project digs into something deeper than Childish's knowledge of old school funky vinyls, it compliments his heart as Donald Glover instead of Childish Gambino and the result couldn't have been more beautifully executed.
