Deja Trimble is better known for her stage name, "DeJ Loaf" which came from her love for Nikes and loafers combined with her first name. DeJ was born on April 8th, 1991 and hails from the east side of Detroit, Michigan. DeJ lost her father when she was only four years old and since then she has done everything she can to get her music career off the ground. DeJ started creating music seriously in 2012 when she was attending college at Saginaw Valley State University and only stayed for a couple of semesters before dropping out to create music full-time.
She released her first mixtape in 2012 called, "Just Do It" that housed the track, "College" where she details her college experience and how it made her come to the realization that school was not what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. In this interview, DeJ details how growing up her favorite rapper was the Bay Area living legend, "E-40" and this attests to the origin of her style. Just two years after she released her debut mixtape she would upload the smash hit, "Try Me" that was produced by "DDS" from her crew, "I Been Getting Money (IBGM)" (2014). The crew consists of, "SAYITAINTTONE" (who is known for being associated with Detroit's own Big Sean), "Oba Rowland", "DJ Limelightz" & DDS. This song would become an internet sensation and would be a viral hit after Canadian superstar rapper, "Drake" posted the lyrics on Instagram. Since then she has signed to Columbia Records and her smash hit has sold over 500,000 records to become a gold selling single. DeJ even appeared on the legendary release of "Detroit Vs. Everybody". This record included features from the great Detroit MC's Eminem, Royce Da 5'9, Big Sean, Danny Brown, Trick Trick & herself.
In 2015, DeJ released her EP ,"#AndSeeThatsTheThing" with the hit single featuring Big Sean called, "Back Up".
