Since 1986 the Vallejo, California native, "Earl Stevens" who is better known as, "E-40" has led the charge for a plentiful amount of California MC's while simultaneously attracting a cult following from the West coast to the Southern region of the nation. E-40's unique and incredibly skilled flow paired with his Bay-Area influenced vernacular immediately would set Stevens apart from his mainstream competition since he made his Rap debut in 1986 on the EP, "Let's Side".

Long before E-40 made his album debut in 1993 with, "Federal" , E-40 would be respected as a legend on the street for the copious amounts of mixtapes he dropped over multiple years out of the trunk of his car. Since the release of his debut album, E-40 has released 22 studio albums and dozens of mixtapes that has fostered a legendary and incredibly successful presence on both coasts of the nation.

Beyond his music, E-40 has also shown his ability to be an entrepreneur through his multiple business ventures that range from nightclubs to book publishing to alcoholic beverages. E-40 has also helped put the Bay Area on the map by popularizing lingo like "hyphy", "ghostride the whip", and his famous adlib "ughhh!".
