Jeffrey Atkins, better known as "Ja Rule", was born in Queens, New York in 1976. Ja's career began in 1994 when he joined the Cash Money Click. Being 18 and unexperienced at the time, he unfortunately lost the publishing rights to his first album that was never released. After four years of working to be seen, he finally landed a record deal with Def Jam Records in 1998. His appearance on Jay-Z's smash hit "Can I get a..." came out the same year he signed his first record deal and allowed him to generate a buzz within the industry. The next year, Ja Rule began his accession to super-stardom when he became the first artist to sign to Murder Inc. Records (ran by producer Irv Gotti under Def Jam Records) and released his debut album "Venni Vetti Veci".
Between the years of 1999 to 2004, Ja Rule released 5 albums sequentially that included, Rule 3:36, Pain Is Love, The Last Temptation, Blood In My Eye & R.U.L.E. Where Ja Rule achieved his most success and ruled the early 2000's was with R&B/Pop superstar Ashanti. Their chemistry was amazing as they gifted hip-hop and R&B with hit singles such as "Always On Time", "Mesmerize" & "Whats Love (with Fat Joe)". Even the smash hit "I'm Real" with Jennifer Lopez is another song and great music video to add to Ja Rule's extensive catalog of 21st century hits. Ja Rule is rumored to release more singles and possibly a full LP this year!
