Lil Dicky

When is the last time you heard of an aspiring MC yearning to snatch the throne of the rap game while simultaneously becoming the next potential comedic powerhouse such as ,"Jonah Hill" or "Seth Rogen"? Although it might seem as a gimmick initially to most his raps are actually up to par, as the twenty-eight year old MC and one of the newly chosen XXL Freshman for 2016, "David Burd" (who is better known as, "Lil Dicky")  has repeatedly stated that he aims to be one of the greats in Hip-Hop history once his career is over.  David was born on March 15th, 1988 in a suburban neighborhood of Pennsylvania where he grew up living a middle-class lifestyle which allowed him to attend the University of Richmond (also ironically where one of the  2016 XXL Freshmen Dave East went to school as well) where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2010.

After graduating, Lil Dicky would relocate to San Francisco to land a job at one of the biggest advertising companies in the country to financially support his dream of wanting to be a professional artist. While working his day job, Lil Dicky would continue to work on his first mixtape and his first music videos for almost two years straight. When Dicky finally released his debut mixtape in 2013 called, "So Hard" he would also release the videos for certain songs that are featured on the tape which include, "Ex-Boyfriend", "White Dude", "$ave Dat Money" & "Sports".

Dicky would quickly run out money after paying for all his music videos himself and would end up starting a Kickstarter campaign to further fund his dreams of recording his debut album, building a brand and even future tour plans. Fortunately enough for Lil Dicky, within 24 hours of first releasing the video for, "Ex-Boyfriend" , it would accumulate about 1 million views on Youtube. With the support of these fans, his Kickstarter Campaign would raise approximately $113,000 and would financially launch Dicky's professional music career. On July 31st, 2015 Lil Dicky released his debut album, "Professional Rapper" which showcases Dicky's sharp and unique flow combined with genuine but comedic concepts throughout the project over solid musical landscapes.

Most recently Lil Dicky was chosen to be on the cover of XXL as one of the picks for XXL's Freshmen for 2016 List as a rising star in the rap industry! We encourage you to check out and purchase his debut album here and be sure to check out some of his best work below!
