Lil Uzi Vert
The city of Philadelphia has birthed many Hip-Hop icons, most famously, "The Fresh Prince" & "DJ Jazzy Jeff", another potential rising star in the industry is twenty-one year old artist, "Lil Uzi Vert" whose stage named was coined from his rapid and aggressive style of spitting his rhymes. Uzi was born, "Symere Woods" on July 31st, 1994 in North Philadelphia and has become the a product of the new youthful mainstream music industry crossed with the new Trap Rap generation.
Without any doubts, Lil Uzi Vert has every intention of being becoming a "Superstar" in the Rap game as stated in his interviews and has intended to do so since he started rapping in High School. In the 10th grade, Woods would become inspired to start his music career when he saw the reaction his friend received after he recorded a freestyle over Chris Brown's, "Look At Me Now". After recording freestyles and posting them on Youtube, Uzi would eventually attract the attention of his former manager "DJ Buzz Worthy" who would connect Uzi with the producer, "Charlie Heat" that would produce one of Uzi's first breakout songs in, "U.Z.I.". Using his connections with Dj Diamond Kutz who was also a supporter of his music, would eventually put Uzi in contact with DJ Drama and Don Cannon who would sign Uzi to their record label "Generation Now" under "Atlantic Records". Since releasing his first two mixtapes in, "Purple Thoughts EP Volume 1 (2014)" & "The Real Uzi (2014)", Uzi has received acclaim for his third project, "Luv Rage (2015)" under Atlantic Records.
Most recently, Uzi has released his fourth project, "Lil Uzi Vert Vs. The World" and has been selected to grace the cover of the XXL Magazine as one of the 2016 XXL Freshmen of the year. Check out some of his music below and be sure to look out for more from this up and coming artist!
