Whether he's working with the legendary MC, "Mos Def" as one-half of the Hip-Hop powerhouse, "Black Star" or teaming up with the high-powered producer, "Hi-Tek" to produce his solo project "Reflection Internal", the Brooklyn native, "Talib Kweli" commands respect for his elite lyrical ability and his mesmerizing talent for illustrating vivid personal anecdotes over various soundscapes.
Before making his debut into Hip-Hop's arena on the 1997 tracks, "Nuclear Hip-Hop" and "Peddlers of Doom" with the Hip-Hop group, "Mood", Talib would be known as, "MC Pure Skills" and "MC Genesis" before ultimately changing his moniker to his government name. In 1998, Talib would team up with Mos Def to cultivate one of the best duo Hip-Hop albums of all time in, "Talib Kweli and Mos Def are Black Star" that would birth some of Kweli's best verses from the tracks, "Astronomy" and "Definition".
Talib's first solo project (and arguably his best album), "Quality" (2002) would also showcase some of Kweli's best lyrical work and storytelling ability on the iconic song, "Get By" that features production of rising producer, "Kanye West". The album would also feature the signature production from the great DJ Quik on another standout track, "Put It In The Air". Kweli's 2013 albums, "Prisoner of Conscious" and "Gravitas" heavily focuses on the awareness of social justice and positivity with songs that feature a young Curren$y and Kendrick Lamar in, "Push Thru". Kweli is also known to lay down some of the illest guest verses on tracks with other Hip-Hop heavyweights such as the song, "Get Em High" that features a young Kanye West and an elite lyricist in, "Common".
Kweli is also an avid and passionate activist that has used his platform throughout his whole career to speak against critical social issues such as police brutality on the 2000 album, "Hip-Hop for Respect" that included the forces of his Black Star mate Mos Def.
